Avjon has submitted plans to build a 74,600 sq ft industrial unit on a site most recently used as an inland border facility to process HGVs in the wake of the UK’s exit from the EU.

The housebuilder has acquired a site in Hollins Green, where it secured detailed consent for 110 homes in February.

The deal could pave the way for 4,200 homes south-east of the town and brings the agency’s land holdings in the area to 617 acres in total, its largest development site in the North.

North Wales-based developer Edwards Homes has agreed to acquire the 5.5-acre site of Warrington RLFC’s former Wilderspool Stadium, which has outline consent for 160 homes.

The £18m office to residential reset of the 52,400 sq ft building will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments in plans now approved by the local authority.
