Full marks for Warrington’s Bruche Academy

A two-storey extension to the existing primary school off Seymour Drive, alongside the development of an early-years wing, will enable 300 students from the ages of two to 16 to study at the Warrington Primary Academy Trust campus.

Warrington Council voted in favour of WPAT’s Bruche Academy proposals at its latest development control meeting. The school, when all the Falconer Chester Hall-designed expansions are complete, will be 44,400 sq ft.

The extension will contain a series of classrooms, as well as a dining room, library, and indoor sports facilities.

To make way for the expansion, an unused wing on the southern end of Bruche Primary School will be demolished.

With an increase in students comes an increase in parking need – accordingly, plans submitted by Enabl include the addition of 74 parking bays and 44 cycle storage spaces.

In addition to Enabl and FCH, the project team included Seed, SLR Consulting, Baker Mallet, Ridge, Element Sustainability, Clancy Consulting, DEP Landscape Architect, E3P, and Sports Planning Consultants.

During the same meeting that Bruche Academy earned a pass, so too did Torus and Countryside’s plans for 500 homes at Peel Hall. Read more about that project.

Surprised they didn’t include a path connecting to Woolston Linear Park for pupils to walk or cycle in from the east, away from the vehicle congestion on Seymour Grove.
