Inertia broken on redevelopment of Liverpool landmark
The city council has formally approved plans for the transformation of the site of the former Grafton Rooms nightclub off West Derby Road into flats 18 months after the scheme was given the nod at committee.
Equans Regeneration secured backing for its plans to build 90 flats in two blocks behind the Grafton Rooms’ retained facade in March 2025. However, the Section 106 agreement was only signed this month.
The homes, all of which are to be affordable, will be owned and operated by One Vision Housing, part of Sovini Group.
Designed by RBA Architects, the scheme was first put to Liverpool City Council in 2023 and featured 47 one-bed flats and 43 with two bedrooms across two blocks of four and four-to-six storeys.
While not listed, the Grafton Rooms is of local relevance, and its Edwardian Neoclassical frontage will be retained and incorporated into the scheme.
