Lidl cracks on with Warrington upsize
Work has started on remodelling units at Pinners Brow Retail Park, as the supermarket ramps up the replacement of its Fennel Street location.
Consented in September 2024, key advisors on the project include Plan A and architect Studio 91. The aim is to open this autumn. Lidl is working with fit-out contractor Braithwaite.
Lidl’s floor sales area would be around 16,300 sq ft in a total occupied of 23,400 sq ft. As set out by Place in 2023, Lidl’s move to the park came as part of a reshuffle of existing tenants.
The new store will be double the size of the store on Fennel Street, and offer more customer parking through the existing retail park provision. Lidl is also adding in solar panels.
Stuart Jardine, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “We’ve been part of the community here for almost 25 years and are thrilled to be bringing a brand-new store which will better meet the needs of the area.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in our journey to bring this new store. We’re on track to open later this year and look forward to welcoming everyone into our new home in Warrington.”
Pinners Brow sits off Haydock Street, close to the Halliwell Jones Stadium in central Warrington.
The current store on Fennel Street will remain open until the new store is ready to open, with staff being retained. From opening its first stores around 30 years ago, Lidl GB has now reached its 1,000th store milestone.
