Anwyl progresses plans for 130+ homes in Cheshire, North Wales

Having now acquired eight acres in Crewe and four acres in Llandudno, the housebuilder can begin constructing two neighbourhoods.

Anwyl Homes secured planning permission for both plots of land last year from their respective councils. Shoosmiths provided legal advice for both projects.

In Crewe, the housebuilder has permission to build 84 homes off Newcastle Road in Shavington. The hybrid application also includes outline consent for 7,500 sq ft of retail. Avison Young was the planning consultant, and the project team also included APD and NWD Architects.

Of the 84 homes, 25 would be affordable. The neighbourhood is to be called Queen’s Meadow and will include a play area. Each of the roads within the development will be named after one of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s horses.

In Llandudno, Anwyl has consent for 49 homes off Nant-y-Gamar Road. Of the 49 properties, 17 would be affordable. The market homes will be promoted as Parc Bodafon and are set to hit the market later this year.

Construction on the Llandudno homes is set to begin in late spring.

Satplan was the planning consultant for the development. The project team also included Baldwin Design, Focus Transport, Weetwood, Coopers, Tyler Grange, UES, Ascerta, REFA, E3P, Cadnant Planning, and Heritage Archaeology.

Anwyl estimates that together the Llandudno and Crewe projects will support 400 local jobs.

Phil Dolan, managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Housebuilding and the property industries have an important role to play in the economy providing jobs, investment in the community, and addressing the housing shortage by increasing the opportunities for people to buy houses.

“We’re committed to buying sustainable sites in sought-after locations across North Wales and the North West of England to provide much-needed new homes,” he continued.

“These two new sites make great additions to our excellent portfolio of developments in the region and each provides a wide range of homes to suit everyone from first-time buyers to large families.”

Anwyl is based out of Ewloe in Flintshire. In addition to residential schemes in Cheshire and North Wales, the company is active within Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Projects in these areas include 120 homes in Heywood, 34 homes in Eccleston, and 160 homes Carrington. Construction has already begun in Heywood and is set to begin this spring in Eccleston.
