Go-ahead secured for Crewe housing
Anwyl Homes has the green light to deliver 84 dwellings at a site off Newcastle Road in Shavington.
Approved at the last meeting of Cheshire East Council’s strategic planning board before local elections, the project has been supported by a professional team including planner Avison Young, APD and NWD Architects.
Along with full consent for the housing, the hybrid application covers outline consent for 7,500 sq ft of retail. The site is around 8.1 acres in total.
The site in question is the final, third plot within an allocated site referred to as the Shavington/Wybunbury Triangle.
That wider site also includes Persimmon Homes’ Shavington Park, a two-phase development of 352 homes, the first phase of which is now under way.
Anwyl Homes proposes 84 homes, 59 of them for market sale and the remainder for affordable housing. Thirty two of the homes are proposed as four-bedroom or larger.
As outlined in the planning officer’s report, a play area is to be provided within the scope of the development. The loss of some trees and hedgerows is regarded as acceptable, provided agreement is completed on off-site mitigation to achieve biodiversity net gain.
Anwyl remains among the region’s busier housing developers. In March, the firm completed the acquisition of part of the former RAF Sealand site, paving the way for 183 homes within the Airfields masterplan area.
