Bellway lodges plans for 70 units in Alderley Edge
An eight-acre site west of Wilmslow Road is to be redeveloped into a mix of two- to five-bedroom houses.
Bellway’s 70-unit scheme, to be constructed on Green Belt north of the village centre, would deliver 45% affordable homes.
Around a quarter of the site would become public open space under the proposals.
Bellway has submitted an outline application to Cheshire East Council.
Sebastian Burrow, Bellway Strategic Land director for the North West, said: “Our proposals would create an integrated extension to Alderley Edge as well as providing more housing choice for people in the local area.
“This is a sustainable location for new homes, within a short walk from Alderley Edge train station, for direct services to Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe, as well as the village centre which offers a good range of local amenities.”
APD and Planit are leading on design. Savills is advising on planning.

Can you please provide the planning application reference so I can look at the plans in further detail?

Hi Dan W. The application has not yet been validated. When it appears on the portal, we will update the story with a planning reference number. Best wishes, Dan.

This is overdevelopment of a village area and it’s not needed.

Good location for housing. To be honest, I can’t believe this site hasn’t come forward sooner. No doubt, the fields to the north will form a ‘Phase 2’ at some point in the future. No reason that the village shouldn’t extend up to the old County Hotel.

Excellent location for more housing development.

David Carey 9.21am – and why would you deny others the opportunity live in Alderley Edge? Perfectly good location and the land serves no green belt purpose so should be removed from the Green Belt.
