Watch This Space lodges plans for 475,000 sq ft Kendal industrial

The Flock would be located on 34 acres east of Shap Road and north of Meadowbank Business Park.

Watch This Space has submitted outline plans for the 475,000 sq ft industrial development to Westmorland and Furness Council.

The project could create up to 1,200 jobs, and generate around £65m GVA, according to the developer.

Designed in-house, the development would feature a range of units for storage, general industrial, and distribution.

An indicative masterplan drafted by Watch This Space shows up to 14 buildings ranging from 3,000 sq ft to 57,000 sq ft and not exceeding 12m in height. Part of the site was previously the subject of proposals from Rayrigg Motors for a car dealership and a 100,000 sq ft business park.

Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, said: “The Flock sounds like a great development to help retain local talent.

“We need opportunities for young people and people of all ages like this. We have so many creative people in our community, and because of where we live, many end up becoming their own bosses. There’s absolutely a gap in the area for workspaces like this.”

Michelle Rothwell, founder of Watch This Space, said: “Our plans for the Flock are big, bold, and beautiful and we are delighted to be bringing some much-needed new build industrial space into the North West and super excited for the thousands of jobs it will create.”
