Persimmon puts in for 110 Barrow homes
A mix of townhouses, semi-detached, and detached houses could be built on eight acres of land by Furness General Hospital, nestled alongside 11 acres of green infrastructure.
Persimmon Homes Lancashire has lodged an outline application with Westmorland and Furness Council for the Barrow project, which would feature a mix of two- to four-bedroom residences.

While exact details regarding affordable housing and layouts will be decided in a reserved matters application, the housebuilder has already indicated that 10% of the project – 11 homes – would be transferred to a registered provider as affordable rental housing.
In addition to sustainable urban drainage systems and a large breadth of green space, the project includes solar panels, heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging capabilities to reduce the ongoing environmental impact of the development.
Rachael Graham, planning director at Persimmon Lancashire, said: “The development would provide a wide range of high-quality, energy efficient homes, with something available for all buyers at prices people can afford.
“We look forward to continuing our work with Westmorland and Furness Council as we progress the application through the planning system.”
GTD Design is working with the housebuilder on the project, alongside Emery Planning, Urban Green, and E3P.
Rounding out the project team are Betts, Redmore Environmental, I Transport, Wardell Armstrong, and Kathyrn Sather and Associates.
