Max Fordham doubles size of Manchester office
The multidisciplinary practice has moved from Carvers Warehouse to 4,300 sq ft within Eastern Green’s Cottonopolis building on Newton Street.
Max Fordham’s Manchester move sees the firm sign a 10-year lease and more than double the size of its office footprint from 2,100 sq ft.
The first floor workspace was recently refurbished by Atelier MB and OBI advised in the deal.
The relocation was driven by a desire not only for more space to accommodate a growing team, but for a more sustainable workspace with improved health and wellbeing credentials, the company said.
Max Fordham’s Manchester office is made up of of 23 MEP engineers, digital design specialists, acoustic engineers, sustainability consultants, and Passivhaus consultants. The team is led by partner Iain Shaw.
The firm opened up in Manchester in 2012 and since then has amassed a client roster including regeneration specialist Muse and Rochdale Council, for whom Max Fordham worked on the restoration of the town hall.
“We’re really excited about our new Manchester office,” Shaw said.
“It’s such a beautiful space to be in with its exposed fabric and daylight, it really extols our approach of low carbon retrofit with an honest simple approach… and its a perfect home for our famous dartboard too!”
