Clancy Consulting pursues pre-pack administration
The firm’s directors have triggered the process of appointing administrators to wrap up its affairs and have formed a phoenix company under which to move forward.
Registered with Companies House on 3 July, CCE Ltd is listed as having two directors: Clancy chief executive Chris Acton and Daniel Singh.
Like Clancy Consulting Ltd, the new business is registered at Windmill Green on Mount Street in Manchester city centre.
An administrator appointment has not yet been formally logged on the Companies House website.
A spokesperson said: “The previous company has entered administration as part of the legal process that enabled the civil and structural engineering business to move forward as a focused standalone business.
“Our priority throughout has been protecting our clients, preserving the strength of the civil and structural engineering business and creating the best possible platform for its future. The successful transition of the building services team to another consultancy, where possible, will safeguard jobs for those individuals.”
As Place reported yesterday, Clancy has closed the building services division of its business, focusing now on the civil and structural engineering service line that has been its bread and butter for more than 50 years.
Speaking of headwinds in the industry, the firm said that the changes made at the business have allowed the management team to save 70 jobs, with the redundancy process still ongoing, along with efforts to find roles elsewhere for those leaving the business.
The company will still be known as Clancy Consulting.
Former divisional director Brian Whitehead, who worked at Clancy for 36 years, posted on LinkedIn to pay tribute to the company as a whole, saying “The company had an excellent family feel with everyone working together and pulling in the same direction for the good of the company”.
He concluded his post by saying “For Dan and Chris and the engineers moving to the new company, hopefully you can maintain the family feel and bring the new company up to Clancy’s former glory and staff levels”.
Interesting to see how this develops. If CCE Ltd is a separate legal entity from Clancy Consulting Ltd, how will the existing framework appointments and contracts be dealt with? Presumably these cannot simply transfer to the new company without the agreement of the relevant clients/framework providers?
