Vistry picks up 534-home Wirral site
The housebuilder is pressing ahead with proposals for 191 market homes, 233 affordable properties, and a 110-unit extra care scheme after Grammont Group secured outline approval for the plot in Bromborough last year.
Vistry’s Merseyside and Cheshire West division has lodged reserved matters proposals for the redevelopment of the 35.5-acre site off Dock Road South.
Of the affordable homes, 84 would be available for social rent, with 63 and 86 for shared ownership. They would be managed by a registered provider.
The extra care block would also be managed by an RP and would be aimed at over-55s, while the open market homes would be developed under Vistry’s Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands.
Mosaic Town Planning is advising Vistry on the proposals, which can be viewed by searching for reference number DLS/26/01100 on Wirral Council’s planning portal.
The slightly smaller site next door also has consent for a housing scheme. Black Pearl’s project would deliver 265 two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses and 112 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The homes would be constructed on 22.4 acres of the wider plot, which was once a biofuels site.

Wirral is flying the flag high for brownfield-first development and leading by example. A great example of how local authorities can unlock regeneration, deliver much-needed homes, and make the most of previously developed land. Other local authorities—take note! 👏
