Line up your autumn with Place Events

High-quality networking and engaging panel discussions on the topics that matter – that is what Place North West promises to bring property professionals over the next few months.

Place Events are the perfect place to make the next great business connection or to glean market intel and insight into a sector. This autumn, we are also diversifying our already robust offer.

“Keeping our events fresh is important to us, and the coming months will see some changes to our conferences including new topics, new venues, and new formats,” said Laura Davies, Place North’s event director.

“We’re looking forward to covering sectors including life sciences, offices and resi, hearing about the latest developments across Greater Manchester and the Liverpool City Region, and bringing young property professionals together at our popular Place Young Things networking event.”

Here’s a brief look at our upcoming events.

Innovation in Property

We’re bringing together the tech world and built environment for a conference that not only showcases the industry’s future but also the tools that you can use right now to optimise your project.

Expect to learn about robots, artificial intelligence, and how advances in technology can change the sustainability game.

Offices + Workspace: Flex, off-site, and city centre

Where and how we are working has never been under so much scrutiny. At Offices + Workspace, we will be asking the big questions to get an accurate sense of where the office market sits today. Is it thriving in the North West, or flailing? Are we building too many offices or not enough? Has the work-from-home bubble burst? And what do the answers to these questions mean for our towns and cities, both now and in the future?

Our experts will give an overview of the market across the region and delve into the challenges and opportunities facing the sector. You will hear from Grosvenor’s office portfolio director, Fergus Evans; Gilbanks’ managing director, Alex Duckett; and Salford City Council’s strategic asset management consultant Stephanie Mullenger.

Offices +Workspace will be held on 11 October at Innside by Melia in Manchester. The event is sponsored by Telcom, MediaCity, HBD, and Morgan Sindall Construction. Book your ticket.

Place RESI

With a general election on the horizon, there are big questions to answer about the future of UK housing policy. Place RESI will bring together local authority officials, political leaders, developers, housebuilders, and more to delve into the residential sector and what needs to be done to help address the country’s housing crisis. Expect conversations around BTR, affordable housing, planning and more in both the city centre and our more suburban and rural communities.

Place Resi will be held on 19 October at Manchester Hall. The event is sponsored by Trowers & Hamlins, WSP, ClearFibre, Placefirst, Northstone, Harris Associates, and Onward Homes. Book your ticket.

Liverpool City Region Development Update

The Liverpool City Region boasts ambitious sci-tech campuses, a thriving logistics industry, higher education institutions and more, contributing to an economy of £28.3bn.

Our panel will talk through the project pipeline and specific issues facing Wirral, St Helens, Knowsley, Sefton, Halton, and Liverpool to give a broad picture of doing business in the region, its unique challenges and opportunities for investment.

This annual conference has become an essential briefing on the state of the market locally. The prospects for development will be under the spotlight more than ever as market-watchers wait to see how Liverpool is recovering from the scandal surrounding the city council.

Liverpool City Region Development Update will be held on 9 November at Innside by Melia in Liverpool. This event is sponsored by Telcom, Morgan Sindall Construction, Fairhursts Design Group, and Freeths. Book your ticket.

Place Young Things

A no-pressure evening of good food, good drink and good company – that’s what Place Young Things offers. This event is full of early-career planners, architects, developers, surveyors, lawyers and more. Come out and prepare to swap ideas with the future of the industry, all of whom are in their 30s and under.

Place Young Things will be held on 16 November in Manchester. The event is sponsored by Robertson and Together. Book your ticket.

Labs of the Future: Life Sciences Property Update

The UK has ambitions to be a global science and technology superpower by 2030 and venture capitalists are paying attention – more than doubling their investment in the life science sector last year, according to CBRE’s 2023 UK Real Estate Market Outlook.

Our panel of industry experts will weigh in on innovations in developing life science labs, the potential for retrofit, and solutions around net zero conundrums around these spaces.

Our confirmed speakers include Kadans’ senior development manager Will Fogden; the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research’s chief laboratory officer, Stuart Pepper; and Fairhursts Design Group’s managing director, Mark Adey.

Whether you’re intrigued by the life sciences property market or a veteran of the sector, this conference will provide you with the crucial market intel you need.
