Bloor moves ahead with 185-home Widnes plan
The housebuilder has submitted proposals to redevelop an 18-acre site off South Lane.
Known as Aspen Brook, Bloor Homes’ scheme would see the delivery of 185 homes north-east of Widnes.
The homes would be a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom properties, with the majority providing three bedrooms. The development would be accessed via three entry points from South Lane.
Stantec is advising on planning and Bloor has designed the scheme in-house.
The site was previously designated as Green Belt but was released for redevelopment in 2022 when Halton Council adopted its local plan.
Aspen Brook now forms part of a wider residential allocation that encompasses sites where Redrow and Prospect Homes have permission for almost 600 houses.
To learn more about Bloor’s plans, search for application reference number 24/00007/FUL on Halton Council’s planning portal.
Great to see more demand for housing in Widnes. Real risk that Widnes starts to merge with Warrington, especially once Fiddlers Ferry is redeveloped. Maybe higher density in and arround the town centres would be better.
Alternatively, if the two conurbations merge than maybe they can get an additional train between Widens and Sankey/Warrington West.

Where is the infrastructure to support this? School places, GPs, dentists etc? Simply not here. Are you going to pay for them ? Build their working spaces ??

@Anon 2.29am, the facilities you mention will be in the nearby town or village, this development may well attract GPs and Dentists in the future if demand dictates.

The infrastructure in north Widnes can’t cope with hundreds more cars on the roads at peak times. There isn’t the schooling capacity to take more children and there aren’t enough doctors or dentist to cope with the extra residents.

Do these anonymous commenters know what a s106 agreement is?

Are nt these developments on areas of high risk flooding. The infra structure currently is at breaking point in the area, this is going to be utter hell on earth

Having lived in this area for ovwr 30 years, I am heartbroken at these plans and a gem of green belt is being destroyed with the loss of habitat for wild life in the area, all in the name of greed
