Go-ahead for Westhoughton Aldi

Bolton Council has resolved to grant planning permission for a new retail scheme in Westhoughton town centre, on behalf of Aldi Stores.

The project will include a 20,000 sq ft Aldi foodstore and 98 parking spaces. The site includes the former Glebe Mill site and the Bolton Road town centre car park which will be relocated as part of the plans. Aldi will redevelop the site itself.

HOW Planning acted as planning consultant for the retailer; Harris Partnership is the architect.

Keith Jones, associate at HOW Planning, said: “We look forward to seeing this important site being redeveloped. It represents a significant investment by Aldi, which will not only add to the visual appearance of the town centre but will also create local jobs and further enhance consumer choice as well as increasing footfall to this part of the town centre.”
