Wirral commences search for developer for £24m Liscard resi
A former municipal building off Seaview Road was knocked down last year to make way for 100 affordable properties.
Wirral Council has appointed Lambert Smith Hampton to find a development partner for the 100-home scheme, which is estimated to have a gross development value of between £15m and £24m.
Cllr Paula Basnett, Leader of Wirral Council, said the project forms part of the planned regeneration of Liscard, for which the authority has secured close to £11m of government grant.
“Increasing the supply of good quality affordable housing is a key priority for Wirral and this proposed development is another important step towards meeting local demand.
“It is also a significant opportunity to transform a prominent council owned site and bring new investment into the heart of Liscard.”
She added: “This is about more than providing new homes. Bringing more people into the town centre can increase footfall, support local businesses and play an important part in the wider regeneration of Liscard.
“We now want to work with the right development partner to deliver a high-quality scheme that makes the best use of this site and brings lasting benefits to the local community.”
The former Liscard Municipal Offices fronting onto Egerton Grove was declared surplus to requirements in 2023 and demolished by contractor Freeley last year.
