Taylor Wimpey seeks views on 450 Mollington scheme
The national housebuilder wants to construct hundreds of homes off Parkgate Road near Blacon.
Taylor Wimpey, which last week announced it was pulling out of London due to viability constraints, is seeking feedback from locals on its plans for 450 homes near the village of Mollington.
At present, Mollington has an estimated population of fewer than 1,000 people. Taylor Wimpey’s plans, if approved, could see this significantly increase.
One local councillor, Simon Eardley, has already taken to social media to outline his objection to the plans.
He said that the scheme is a “direct result of…[the government’s] massive hike” of Cheshire West and Chester’s local housing targets and the introduction of the Grey Belt policy.
Taylor Wimpey’s 60-acre development would provide 45% affordable homes. The scheme would be accessed via a pair of junctions on Parkgate Road.
Taylor Wimpey is expecting to lodge a planning application with Cheshire West and Chester Council in the autumn.
Tim Booth, planning manager at Taylor Wimpey North West, said the views of locals are important to developing the plans.
“Gathering local views is an essential part of our development process. Engaging with the community and listening to their ideas will enable us to make the best possible contribution to Mollington and the surrounding area.
“We’re keen to hear from residents, businesses and stakeholders on our plans for a new, sustainable development.
The consultation will run until 1 November. Two in-person events will also be held:
- Monday 19 October, 2pm to 5.45pm – King George V Sports Hub, Blacon Avenue, Blacon
- Tuesday 20 October, 5pm to 7pm – Brook Mollington Banastre Hotel, Parkgate Road, Mollington
FPCR and Asteer Planning are advising Taylor Wimpey on the proposals.
