Tameside, Sefton launch £100m highways frameworks
The two local authorities are creating separate lists of vetted contractors to assist with structural repairs, drainage works, and carriageway maintenance.
Tameside Council and Sefton Council have both listed their frameworks as particularly suitable for SMEs.
Sefton Council’s framework has an estimated value of £54m, excluding VAT. The framework will be active between 1 October 2026 and 30 September 2031, with a possible extension to 2034.
Tenders received will be evaluated based on price, quality, and social value. Price will have the most weight at 50%, with quality the next most important consideration with a 35% weight. Social value will be given a 15% weight.
Deadline for tenders for this framework is 21 May, with an award announcement set for 20 July.
Tameside Council’s framework is estimated to be worth £45m, excluding VAT. This one will be active from 30 September 2026 to 29 September 2030. There is also a possibility to extend to 29 March 2032.
Tameside is looking to have a minimum of six suppliers per its eight lots.
The deadline for tenders for this framework is 27 April, with an award announcement scheduled for 18 August.
The procurement details for both frameworks can be found on find-tender.service.gov.uk.
Bury Council launched a similar framework in February, which has a value of £168m.
