Patisserie Valerie closures and job losses confirmed

KPMG, administrator of Patisserie Holdings, has have confirmed the closure of 27 Patisserie Valerie stores, 19 Druckers stores and 25 Patisserie Valerie concessions, ten of the closures in the North West.

The concessions are based in a number of Debenhams and Next stores, and also at motorway service areas. The company’s bakery in Spitalfields will also close. All were loss-making. In total, 920 jobs have been lost.

In central Manchester, Patisserie Valerie on St Ann Street will close, along with the concession in Next at Manchester Arndale – the Druckers Vienna Patisserie at the Arndale will also close.

Patisserie Valerie stores in Liverpool’s Whitechapel and Southport’s Lord Street will also close, along with the concession in Liverpool’s Debenham’s. Another Debenham’s concession, in Wigan, will close, along with stores in Bury and Chester. A concession at Next in the Trafford Centre will also close.

The group’s remaining 122 outlets will continue to trade while the administrators seek a buyer for the business. No Philpotts stores will close.

David Costley-Wood, partner at KPMG and joint administrator, said: “Since our appointment less than 24 hours ago, we have been pleased with the level of interest we have received in the business, and so remain hopeful of achieving a positive outcome.

“In the meantime, we can reassure customers that across the remaining 122 stores, it is all but business as usual.”

KPMG said that its team continue to provide all necessary support and assistance to those employees who have lost their jobs, including providing them with the information needed to apply for monies owed from the Redundancy Payments Service.

Patisserie Holdings entered administration yesterday, after failing to secure a rescue deal with its lenders.
