Maybrook revises plans for £70m Gwynedd holiday park
Having been refused permission to redevelop the former Ferodo and Plas Brereton sites on the outskirts of Caernarfon last year, the developer has lodged fresh plans for the scheme.
Maybrook Investments wants to create a holiday park called Gwel y Fenai across the two sites, which total 58 acres.
The resort would comprise 170 lodges and 38 apartments.
The former Ferodo industrial buildings would also be repurposed, providing 110,000 sq ft of commercial space across two units.
The final part of the vision for the sites’ redevelopment is a hub building featuring a variety of leisure facilities, including a waterpark, bowling facility, kids soft play area, restaurant and health and wellbeing zone.
The plans differ slightly from those refused by Gwynedd Council in November last year. The number of lodges has been reduced by three and there will be 13 fewer flats.
The professional team is led by Cadnant Planning and Dewis Architecture, and also includes Cambrian Ecology and Cynlas Cyf.
The authority rejected Maybrook’s proposals 12 months ago, citing a raft of reasons including the height of the leisure building and traffic concerns.
