Ask given go-ahead for 116,000 sq ft airport industrial

Horizon, a £30m project to be constructed at Manchester Business Park, will feature nine last-mile logistics units ranging from 6,600 sq ft to 22,300 sq ft.

Ask Real Estate has received planning consent from Manchester City Council for the 116,000 sq ft industrial scheme, having acquired a 7.8-acre plot off Aviator Way in September from a company attached to Arlington, the original developer of Manchester Business Park. Ask is planning to be on site this summer.

Jamie Hills, development director for Ask said: “We are really pleased to secure planning for Horizon and are looking forward to appointing a contractor ahead of making an immediate start on site.

“Horizon will feature last mile commercial space for businesses at a key airport location, creating jobs for local people and further contributing to the local economy and the prosperity of Wythenshawe.”

AEW Architects designed the scheme and Newmark has been appointed as letting agent. Deloitte advised Ask on planning. The professional team also includes Motion Project Management, and KAM.

Horizon will seek to add to the roster of clients at Manchester Business Park, which includes Costain, Emirates, Regus, and PZ Cussons.

The Manchester Business Park site lies off Aviator Way, neighbouring the £1bn MIX Manchester development, which will create up to 2m sq ft of mid tech, advanced manufacturing space, R&D labs and office space.
