Manchester United spends £63.5m on stadium land
The club has revealed how much it paid Indurent for the 25-acre site of its proposed 100,000-seater Old Trafford replacement.
In an earnings update that confirmed Manchester United Football Club made a £43m loss for the year ended 30 June 2026, the club said £63.5m of its current year expenditure was spent on land needed to deliver the stadium.
Place North West understands £60m of this was spent on one site; a triangular industrial plot located north of John Gilbert Way and bound by Wharfside Way to the north and Europa Way to the west around 350 metres north-west of the existing stadium.
The Indurent deal contributed to a £41.2m increase in net expenditure on property, plant, and equipment to £85.9m year-on-year. Man United turned over £677m for the year.
The original plan had been to build the new ground closer to Old Trafford, utilising land occupied by the Freightliner complex next door. However, the club and the operator failed to agree a deal.
The club said the Indurent site would allow the new stadium to be constructed while minimising disruption around Old Trafford.
The stadium, to be designed by Foster + Partners, forms part of the wider regeneration of the surrounding 370 acres. A vision for this project was unveiled in July.
The project is expected to deliver around 15,000 new homes and add more than £7bn a year to the UK economy, according to research by Oxford Economics.
