FCH promotes trio in North West

Gareth Jones and Robert Brym have been promoted to director, while Jack Farrell has been made an associate director amid the architectural practice’s emergence as a specialist in navigating the Building Safety Act.

Jones, based out of Falconer Chester Hall’s Manchester office, has been promoted to director after nine years with the firm. He joined from SimpsonHaugh in 2017.

Brym, based in FCH’s Liverpool headquarters, has been with the company for more than a decade, while Farrell joined as an architectural assistant in 2017 and has since risen through the ranks to associate director.

The trio of high-risk building specialists have all played their part in Falconer Chester Hall’s securing 11 Gateway 2 approvals and two Gateway 3 consents. The practice is actively positioning itself as an expert in all things BSA.

All three act as principal designers, a statutory duty-holder in the new, post-Grenfell design regime, appointed by the client to oversee, manage, and co-ordinate design work and regulatory compliance.

“The skills, systems and technology required to deliver tall buildings under the new regime have essentially divided our sector in three: those who can design a project up to planning approval; those with the expertise to work with construction and engineering partners to deliver a compliant building; and those, like FCH, who can do both,” said FCH managing director Adam Hall.

“Our promotions acknowledge how colleagues have embraced these changes and helped position us as one of the UK’s foremost designers of tall buildings.

“Promoting from within has always been key to our growth and I’m delighted for Gareth, Rob and Jack that we can recognise their tremendous contribution to the practice in this way.

FCH’s tall building clients include Legacie, Davos Property, Brickland, Caro, Dandara, and Vermont.

Hall added: “We will continue to invest in our team so that we can meet our clients’ needs for both architectural and principal designer services.   We have a further six Gateway 2 approvals in process and other tall buildings on the drawing board, so it’s an exciting time for us.”

FCH employs 60 staff in Liverpool, 15 in Manchester, and five in London.
