Wain Homes set to start on 50 Crumpsall homes

Located close to Bowker Vale Metrolink station, the developer’s Worthington Place scheme proposes 32 three-bed houses and 18 with four bedrooms.

Dappa Homes secured planning consent in 2024 to develop the three-acre site off Middleton Road between Crumpsall and Prestwich.

The proposal included plans for a 24-home apartment block on the site of the former Whitehouse Social Club, which has been delivered and is operated by Irwell Valley Homes.

Wain Homes has picked up the land to the rear of the completed affordable block and is planning to start building the 50 market sale properties imminently.

Richard Chamberlain, regional managing director at Wain Homes, said: “This site acquisition gives us a rare opportunity to deliver much needed family housing in a popular and well-connected location in Manchester.

“The site is approximately 200 metres from Bowker Vale Metrolink station, which provides a direct link into Manchester city centre in under 15 minutes, and is within walking distance to Heaton Park. We’re looking forward to starting on site and delivering a high-quality development that will make a positive contribution to the local area.”

The design team for Worthington Place included planning consultant Enabl, Trevor Bridge Associates on landscape, and Coopers on highways and technical design.
