ECF eyes green light for final New Bailey apartments

Plans for a 22-storey block featuring 189 affordable apartments are set to be given the go-ahead by Salford City Council next week.

ECF submitted plans for the final residential element of its New Bailey masterplan in November last year.

At that time, the Hawkins\Brown-designed scheme proposed an 18-storey building with 153 flats. These plans have since been expanded to feature an additional four storeys and 36 more homes, in line with the requirements of registered providers.

The development would comprise a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments and is the next residential phase of the masterplan to emerge.

The plot in question is located among five other apartment blocks comprising 831 flats; the three that make up Slate Yard, as well as the 23-storey Novella, and the 22-storey scheme currently under construction on plot C2.

ECF’s latest residential proposal would take the number of apartments in this area of the masterplan beyond 1,000.

Salford Stanley Street NCP and the recently completed Eden office building are also situated nearby.

Buro Four, Deloitte, Cundall, Re-form, Walker Sime, Project Four Safety, Renaissance, GIA, Aracero, Design Fire Consultants, and Hannan Associates are advising on the scheme.

The ‘Flat Iron’ look just reminded me of the Ronaldo hotel that was proposed some time ago up around Newton St and was a lovely design I seem to recall. I presume because nothing has been heard for a long time now that is dead in the water? Pity.
