Chapel Street resi and Little Hulton industrial approved
Salford City Council’s planning committee has given the go-ahead to a 49-home mixed-use scheme on Chapel Street, while Network Space’s 183,000 sq ft employment site in Little Hulton has also secured consent.
Both projects were approved in line with officer recommendation at a meeting on 19 September.
On Chapel Street, the proposals are for Plot E9 within the wider Chapel Street masterplan. The project, designed by architect IBI, feature a mix of one and two-bed apartments over eight storeys, along with 2,900 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor. The scheme is pictured above.
Plans were originally put forward for a nine-storey, 56-home scheme but these were cut back following feedback from the council.
Mansion House Project Management, headed by Richard Peel, is managing the development on behalf of Jerrold Manufacturing Pension Fund. Both businesses are associated with Manchester business grandee Henry Moser.
Emery Planning are planning consultants and Donald Insall Associates advised at the heritage architect. Hann Tucker, Arup, and DW Consulting Engineers make up the remaining professional team.
In Little Hulton, Network Space had put forward a reserved matters application for its 11-acre site known as Raven Locks, outlined in red below.
The site already benefits from outline permission for 200,000 sq ft of employment and industrial space, and the reserved matters application is for four separate units of 64,000 sq ft; 46,000 sq ft; 41,000 sq ft; and 32,000 sq ft, along with parking for 245 vehicles.
The 46,000 sq ft unit also has the potential to be subdivided into three, based on tenant demand. AEW is the architect.
