Seddon pursues next Cheshire opening

Zeroing in on the Sydney Road area north-east of Crewe town centre, the firm has lodged plans for 92 homes, following a 320-home submission in 2025.

Seddon is working with WSP and Woodcroft Design on the project, where 28 affordable homes are proposed. While the larger scheme was submitted in outline, this bid seeks full planning permission.

Of the market housing put forward for the 10-acre site, there would be 12 four-bedroom homes, and 26 each of two- and three-beds. The affordable homes would break down as 12 one-beds, 14 two-beds and two three-beds.

A total of 189 parking spaces are included in the plans.

The site is owned by Seddon Homes, and sits adjacent to the site mapped out for the 320 homes put forward in autumn 2025. Seddon is also already delivering the Pavilions scheme next to these sites.

It is located outside of but adjacent to Crewe’s settlement boundary, sitting within the ‘strategic green gap’ and open countryside between Crewe and Haslington. WSP said in its planning statement that consent would help Cheshire East demonstrate deliverable housing supply, the council currently being unable to demonstrate a five-year supply.

Also in Cheshire East, Seddon has this year pushed on with a 275-home bid on Nantwich’s outskirts, while it is also progressing 88 homes in Winterley.
