Women in Property appoints North West chair

Nicola Rudman will oversee the region’s chapter of the influencing and networking organisation, taking the helm from MCI Developments’ Eleanor Ogilvie.

Rudman is a strategic business development executive associate at Fairhursts Design Group. She is dedicated to helping the practice grow its architecture and interior design business.

Women in Property is a national organisation that brings together and advocates for women throughout the industry, presenting a variety of educational, mentoring, networking and social events.

“To achieve diversity in an organisation, you have first to be inclusive,” Rudman said. “This has been the Women in Property ethos since its inception back in 1987 and our work continues with this at our core. Now, the conversation is less about gender specifically and has a greater focus on inclusion.

“We must continue to break through the barriers, the preconceived ideas that still make it difficult for many people to succeed, whether because of gender, race, age, disability or social mobility,” she continued. “In my role as North West Chair for the upcoming year, I of course want to build upon the successes of the previous years. I am passionate about the support Women in Property offers to its members and its initiatives that help inspire and grow women to achieve their very best.”

Fairhursts Design Group director Laura Sherliker celebrated Rudman’s new role.

“It is fantastic to see Nicola take on the position as Chair of the North West Women in Property committee,” Sherliker said. “She is an integral and inspirational member of the team at the Fairhursts Design Group so it is clear why she has been appointed to such an important role at Women in Property.

“We wish Nicola every success for the coming year and are confident that she will encourage other women looking for a career in construction, at a time when the industry needs to continue to work together to build a culture that promotes diversity, inclusion and equality, and make a positive difference to the people that work in our sector.”

Rudman will be the chair of Women in Property’s North West chapter for one year. During that time, she will receive the support of vice chair Gwenno Jones, an associate at Buttress Architects. Jones will take over as chair in March 2023.
