Wigan to advocate for investment at MIPIM
The Greater Manchester borough will promote its development opportunities to a global audience of more than 20,000 investors, developers, politicians, and property professionals.
Wigan Council has partnered with Marketing Manchester and Place North West to raise its profile and generate investment leads at the international property conference.
“Wigan, Alison Mckenzie-Folan (CEO) and Aidan Thatcher (director of place), are going to MIPIM 2024 to build on the work we did in 2023, where we achieved a strong message of growth in Wigan – showcasing numerous development opportunities,” a Wigan spokesperson said.
“One year on, and those now underway, we will provide the pipeline of new growth opportunities as well as supporting the Greater Manchester family to really showcase what GM can achieve – particularly with the exciting future post Places for Everyone and with a new devolution budget and enhanced collaborative working,” they continued.
“We are looking forward to bringing investment back to Wigan and getting our strong message out there, including some exclusive announcements!”
Dino Moutsopoulos, managing partner and head of commercial at Place North, welcomed the news.
“Having worked with Wigan this year at MIPIM, the Place team looks forward to helping shine a light on what investment opportunities and plans are afoot for Wigan,” Moutsopoulos said.
“I applaud Wigan’s proactive approach to approaching the market and attending MIPIM. Strong leadership from local authorities and embracing the private sector market is, in my view, the most logical way to create the most vibrant towns and cities.”
