Oldham heads for the global stage at MIPIM
With a series of large-scale regeneration projects on the horizon, the local authority has partnered with Place North to ensure its initiatives get the international attention they deserve.
MIPIM will see more than 20,000 property professionals gather in Cannes for four days starting on 16 March 2027.
The vast majority of those attending MIPIM are executive level or above, with last year seeing 5,000 investors present from the world’s largest financial firms – including BlackRock, Invesco, PGIM, and Nuveen.

Oldham Council will be putting forward its plans to transform the borough to this audience of decision-makers. Those attending can expect to hear about the Oldham Mayoral Development Corporation, which is due to receive Parliamentary assent in early 2027.
The MDC’s purview will include the creation of Sports Town around Oldham Athletic Football Club, the refurbishment of Oldham’s historic town centre, and the development Northern Roots urban farm.
“Oldham is excited to be launching its new MDC in partnership with Place North West,” said James Kington, director of growth at Oldham Council.
“The track record and reach on Place North West across the property industry is unrivalled and will give Oldham the platform to deliver the nest stage in its regeneration for our current and future residents,” he continued.
MIPIM will also be a chance to showcase the good work already being done in the town – as the council will not be waiting until March to drive its projects forward.
Kington said: “Our partnership with Muse has seen us break ground on Princess Gate phase one and we are now actively looking for engagement on the Civic Campus with 838 homes over six residential blocks with the tower converted for hotel use.”
Place North managing partner Dino Moutsopoulos welcomed Oldham’s MIPIM commitment.
“We are very pleased to have been chosen by Oldham to support their MIPIM attendance,” he said.
“MIPIM provides unrivalled access to international investment and that is something we will look to access for Oldham.
“We will also guarantee Oldham profile and publicity as well as support during MIPIM week, to make sure their key messages and opportunities are seen,” he continued.
“Our unique position as an exhibiting media house specialising in real estate gives us all the tools to help Oldham and other towns and cities make the most of their attendance.”
Place North has expanded its offer for North of England delegates to MIPIM, with plans for 2027 including a UK Regions Lunch, an enhanced programme on the North of England Suite, and even more opportunities for access to exclusive, high-quality networking events during the show.
