Wates consults Manchester workers over job cuts
Staff at the 20-strong Manchester office of contractor Wates are waiting to hear if they will be affected by the loss of 30 jobs across the company.
Wates, which employs 120 people in London, said the Northern office would remain open and the numbers losing their jobs would be known after a consultation process finishing at the end of November.
The cuts will be confined to the interiors division, which accounts for 10% of the group's £940m turnover.
A statement from Wates said: "Due to the current market conditions Wates Interiors, along with a number of our competitors, are positioning ourselves to face the challenges ahead."
