Surveyor stretches out to launch yoga studios

Robin Ellis, senior agency surveyor at Downing, has handed his notice in to the developer in order to establish a pop-up yoga studio operator alongside his own property consultancy.

Yin Yan will deliver yoga classes for beginners within vacant offices. Ellis recently launched the first studio within Liverpool’s commercial district and will be one of three yoga teachers leading classes.

The company aims to work with commercial landlords and asset managers, letting agents, property managers and PR teams.

Ellis has worked at Downing since 2007, prior to which he was a surveyor at GVA. While at Downing he secured one of the largest lettings in Liverpool’s history, with 220,000 sq ft let to the UK Border Agency at The Capital in 2009. He also oversaw the development of the Downing flexi-office portfolio.

He is due to leave the company in August and Downing said he would continue to work for the company on a freelance basis.

Ellis said: “I’ll be sorry to leave Downing but I’m really looking forward to working with them through Robin Ellis Property, and I’m excited about Yin Yan.
