Rural Cheshire data centre put forward
Innova’s Spodegreen data centre campus would occupy 148 acres of land owned by the Tatton Estate, with proposals including a training facility, offices, district heat network, and solar farm.
Innova is a renewable energy and data centre developer active throughout the UK. In the North West and North Wales, the company is behind solar farms in Wrexham and Aston and energy storage schemes in Birkenhead, Bolton, and Manchester.
Spodegreen would be the company’s first data centre in the North West. Innova is working with JLL on these plans.
The data campus would sit south of Lymm Road, with access from both that road and Chester Road. The solar farm would be west of Coe Lane and would provide power for the educational facility, offices, and district heating centre.
Solar panels on the roofs of buildings and the car park would help supply energy for electric vehicle charging, according to the project’s consultation website.
Innova said its plans would create 350 jobs in construction and operational phases, with a promise to fund apprenticeship and training opportunities if the scheme goes through.
