Plans in for Snowdonia hotel refurb
Owner Inn Collection Group wants to revamp the Swallow Falls Hotel on Holyhead Road in Betws-y-Coed.
The vacant 19-bedroom hotel, acquired in 2021 from long-time owner Peter Jones, is located directly opposite the Swallow Falls Waterfall.
“The hotel is currently in disrepair and it’s a blight on the local environment, it’s a dominant negative feature for visitors when they visit the waterfall,” according to a planning statement by Mango.
The proposals will see the exterior of the main building enhanced, as well as the installation of new services across the site.
“This package of works will allow ICG to refurbish the hotel in a sensitive way that appreciates the 19th-century main building but still provide a high-quality destination for their customers,” according to Mango.
The development is expected to create 38 full-time jobs.
GSS Architecture is advising Inn Collection Group on its proposals, which will see three glamping pods installed in 2017 retained.
Elsewhere in North Wales, ICG also owns The Bull in Beaumaris on the Isle of Anglesey. In total, the group has 32 hotels in its portfolio across North Wales, the Lake District, and County Durham.
