Plans in for Norfolk Street flats
PHD1 Construction has submitted plans to Liverpool City Council for a 200-apartment scheme across two blocks in Norfolk Street in the Baltic Triangle area of the city.
The development, designed by Blok Architecture, makes up the second and third phases of a wider scheme by PHD1 on the site between Jamaica Street and St James Street. The developer is currently on site with Baltic House, a 311-apartment student accommodation complex.
If approved, the two new blocks would be built either side of Baltic House. The first proposal, on the site of the former Liver Grease Oil & Chemical Company, would be made up of 125 studios and one bedroom apartments with workshops and gallery spaces on the ground floor.
The second proposal is a student accommodation block on the site of City Sheds, and consists of 71-bedrooms and café, retail and gallery space.
In a statement to the council, Blok said that the plans showed “a progressive and refined scheme that responds to the industrial heritage of the surrounding area but looks forward to developing the area into one of the city’s most vibrant communities.”
PHD1, in partnership with Pinnacle MC Global, was granted planning permission in February for a £90m mixed-use scheme designed by Blok at Pall Mall in Liverpool, made up of 366 homes, 50,000 sq ft of commercial, retail and leisure units and an 18-storey tower. Pinnacle, PHD1 and Blok are also currently working on the £77m Angelgate project, a 344-apartment scheme on a car park site in Dantzic Street in Manchester.
