Culzean gains permission for Rossendale homes

Rossendale Council has granted outline planning permission to Culzean Developments, for a residential scheme on land partly occupied by a derelict stadium previously used by Rossendale United FC.

The football stadium was last used by non-league Rossendale United in 2011 and was badly damaged by a fire in 2012. Since then the site has become derelict.

The proposals, designed by Halliday Meecham Architects, total 100 homes, along with a children’s play area, and access off Dark Lane.

As part of the development 20% of the residential units will be affordable, and a financial contribution of £130,755 will be made to deliver a replacement playing pitch at Marl Pits Leisure Centre in Rossendale.

Euan Kellie Property Solutions advised on the application. Culzean Developments is based in Rossendale and is led by director Nick Kennedy.

Euan Kellie said: “The proposals represent a fantastic opportunity to deliver much needed residential development within the borough, and also to make a make a notable contribution to sport and leisure in the local community.”
