Nelson and Backhouse launch new agency

Ex-Colliers colleagues Andy Backhouse and Nick Nelson have unveiled their office and industrial surveying practice, called Sixteen Real Estate.

The name refers to the date the company was incorporated on 16 August 2016.

Sixteen Real Estate, based in City Tower, Manchester, will offer clients advice on the North West office and industrial markets, with a particular focus on asset management, transactions and occupier representation.

Nelson and Backhouse have 25 years’ experience between them. Nelson previously worked at CBRE before joining Colliers International in 2013. Backhouse worked at Knight Frank, Davies Harrison, and Edward Symmons before joining Colliers in 2008.

Nelson said: “We have both been lucky enough to gain a vast amount of experience on the majority of large schemes in the North West, learning valuable lessons along the way. We believe that it was the right time to go it alone as we are both well placed in our respective markets to offer partners unique service that maximises their commercial objectives.

“The North West has undergone a significant shift in the past two years with the ownership profile changing radically. We like to think that we do things differently and can want to assist both landlords and occupiers in an innovative and enjoyable manner.”

Backhouse added: “This is an exciting time for the North West commercial property market and with our diverse range of experience over the last few years we are in a perfect position to advise clients on the ever changing market whether this be acquisitions, disposals or maximising the potential of existing assets.”
