MediaCity dedicates further space for growing start-ups
Three floors of the White building at MediaCityUK have been repackaged as Arrive, a space intended to bridge the gap between start-up space and larger suites.
Arrive will offer businesses between 360 sq ft for six desks and 1,700 sq ft accommodating 20 desks and will take up floors four to six at White. The facility will feature an auditorium, communal hub, meeting rooms, breakout areas and an outside terrace.
The first lettings have been agreed, with tenants moving in over the next few months.
The 16-storey White has six floors of office accommodation, with access to The Studios underneath and the Holiday Inn on the top eight floors. The Arrive floors account for a combined 26,600 sq ft of White’s 48,900 sq ft office space. With the second and seventh floors full, there is just one vacant suite on the third floor remaining, on which Peel is in talks with an occupier.
Lynn Haime, asset manager at MediaCity, said: “With over 250 SMEs based here, this is a natural progesssion for growth within the journey at MediaCityUK. Typically, fledgling businesses will take a desk or two in smaller offices such as The Greenhouse before expanding to more sizeable space within Tomorrow, White or Blue.
“Arrive bridges the gap between these offerings, so we have spaces for every size of business.”
Haime added that all three buildings, together with the Orange tower, are the first in the region to achieve the platinum rating for digital connectivity from certification programme WiredScore.
Since its inception, Peel and L&G’s MediaCity has tended more and more towards flexible, SME-focused spaces than might have been envisaged at the outset, with the 2016 arrival of the Tomorrow building and the addition of The Landing start-up hub, which features a Barclays Eagle Lab, in the Blue tower. The White building space formerly housed a call centre business that went into administration.
