Liverpool approves plans for Portakabin school solution
A two-storey, 23,000 sq ft temporary structure next to the former Sony office building at Wavertree Technology Park, which is currently being used as an interim education facility, will stand for the next four years.
The secretary of state for education secured permission earlier this week for the modular secondary school, which is already operational.
The temporary structure is home to 210 year 7 students who make up the first cohort of a state funded school to be managed by Kings Leadership Academy.
It will be installed for a period of four years and be located next to the Sony building.
Meanwhile, plans to redevelop the wider 6.5-acre site, which currently houses the Sony building and a partially-occupied former NatWest office, are being worked up.
Both buildings, located doff Stephenson Way, are in line for demolition to make way for a permanent school, which could accommodate 1,050 students upon completion.
Arthian is advising on the plans. To learn more, search for reference number 25F/0671 on Liverpool City Council’s planning portal.
