Glenbrook works up more Manchester resi
The former Beever & Struthers office on Chester Road is to be knocked down to pave the way for the site to be redeveloped into 162 homes under plans being readied by the developer.
The project is the latest residential development from Glenbrook, which is also working up plans for the redevelopment of the Church Street car park in the Northern Quarter and another scheme at Birley Fields.
On Chester Road, the developer is planning to deliver a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments across two linear blocks.
The taller of the two blocks, coming in at six storeys, would front Chester Road but would be considerably shorter than the DeTrafford buildings on the opposite side of the road.
The shorter of the two blocks, which would rise to four storeys, would front Anne Nuttall Road.
An online consultation on the scheme, designed by Tim Groom Architects, is now live. Enabl is advising on planning. Square Yard, Hexa Consulting, and Wallace Whittle are also involved in the project.
Two in person sessions at New Hope International Ministry on Tatton Street are also due to be held on Thursday 13 August, 4-7pm and Tuesday 18 August, 1-4pm

“The proposals have evolved significantly through engagement with Manchester City Council and the wider project team, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality homes, creating a distinctive place with attractive landscaping, and a design that responds positively to the character of Hulme.
Watson added: “We would encourage anyone with an interest in the proposals to attend one of our consultation events or visit the project website to find out more and share their feedback before a planning application is submitted.”
Glenbrook bought the site from Beever & Struthers after the accountancy firm relocated to Ancoats in 2022.
JLL advised the law firm on the disposal.
