Galliford Try completes first council homes at Chase Park
The first three of the 45 council homes being built by Galliford Try Partnerships for Cheshire West & Chester Council at the Chase Park development in Ellesmere Port have been completed.
A planning application for 141 homes at the 10-acre former greyhound stadium at Ellesmere Port was submitted to the council in January 2016 by Linden Homes, the residential arm of Galliford Try. It was approved in September that year.
Galliford Try is building 85 of the homes on the £4.4m Chase Park development, of which 45 are designated for the council. These are the first new-build council homes in the borough for 40 years and are a mix of one-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses. The remaining 40 homes will be available for rent or sale under the Linden Homes brand, and are offered as part of the help to buy scheme.
Also on site is Sanctuary Homes with 56 new properties, which will be available to buy outright, rent or as part of a flexible shared ownership scheme.
Cllr Angela Claydon, cabinet member for housing, said: “Ellesmere Port is the first location in West Cheshire for new Council homes for many years and will offer quality homes for affordable rent. New houses are also being built in Winsford and Neston.”
Brendan Blythe, managing director at Galliford Try Partnerships North West, said: “The town’s future is looking really positive with plans for wider redevelopment and investment being considered and it’s in an ideal location for commuters travelling to Liverpool, Chester and Warrington so we expect the site to be popular.”
The Linden Homes properties will be released for open market sale in spring 2018 with the first completions expected in autumn that year. The prices of the homes will be determined by property values at the time, but are likely to range in price from £136,000 for a two-bed to £200,000 for a four-bed home.
