Cumbria Grand Hotel on market for £2.8m

With the collapse of Strathmore Hotels, the 124-bed, 20-acre resort is now up for grabs.

Christie & Co is marketing the hotel on behalf of administrator Interpath. It is one of eight former Strathmore Hotel properties for sale, most of which are in Scotland. Together, they represent 808 bedrooms with a cumulative £35m price tag.

The Cumbria Grand Hotel off Lindale Road in Grange-over-Sands has a guide price of £2.75m for its freehold.

In addition to its 124 bedrooms, the hotel includes the 180-cover Hazelwood Restaurant. A Jacobean bar and the guest lounges can also accommodate 160 covers between them.

The 47,650 sq ft hotel has function space as well, with the largest of its event rooms being the 250-seat Grand Ballroom.

Overlooking Morecambe Bay, Cumbria Grand Hotel’s grounds include gardens, a woodland, tennis courts, and football pitch.

Interpath joint administrator Alistair McAlinden said there had been significant interest already in the portfolio of hotels.

“Upon the sales process being launched, interested parties should contact Christie & Co as quickly as possible to discuss and progress their interest,” he said.

Christie &  Co regional director for hospitality Brian Sheldon added: “We look forward to officially launching the sales process very soon and gauging from the initial enquiries we have received to date, we anticipate being very busy.”
