Cole Waterhouse appoints MD for resi arm

The developer has split its operations into two divisions, commercial and residential, and appointed Simon Gallanders as managing director of the latter.

Gallanders has joined Cole Waterhouse Residential from Real Estate Investment Partnerships, where he spent the last 12 years.

REIP, the firm behind the controversial Warp & Weft scheme in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, is Cole Waterhouse’s sister company.

Both the commercial and residential elements of Cole Waterhouse’s operations are ultimately led by chief executive Damian Flood, executive director Greg Ritchie and chief operating officer Rod Priestley.

There are plans in place to structure the commercial side of the business in a similar way to the residential arm but no managing director has been appointed as of yet, the company said.

Chief executive Flood said: “The past two years have seen us rapidly expand the business across the UK but with a very clear focus on residential and industrial development.

“We now have schemes coming forward in London, Manchester, Salford, Leeds and Birmingham and the restructure of the business, and Simon’s appointment to lead the residential arm strengthens our management team even further.”

Established in 2015, Cole Waterhouse has offices in Manchester and London and is developing schemes across the UK including industrial warehousing, hotels, large-scale city centre mixed-use regeneration and residential.

The company is nearing completion of No.1 Old Trafford, a 354-unit residential scheme, which topped out last summer.

Nearby, the firm’s 290-apartment Anchorage Gateway development in Salford, is due to start on site this month.

In a shift away from residential, a joint venture between Cole Waterhouse and Peveril Securities is plotting a 275,000 sq ft industrial scheme close to the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford, as revealed by Place North West.

Gallanders said: “The mix of the projects which now shape the pipeline are incredibly exciting and we are ready to be getting on with the next phase of delivery through the remainder of this year.”
