Bury kicks off Pyramid Park resi opportunity

The council is planning to dispose of a one-acre site off Town Fields Close to a registered provider for a housing scheme for elderly people.

Earmarked for a 35-home development for those over 65, the plot forms part of the wider 7.4-acre Pyramid Park site in Bury town centre.

The redevelopment of the Town Fields plot would be the first phase of the Pyramid Park project, which could eventually feature up to 400 homes, according to Bury Council’s town centre masterplan.

The council’s cabinet is due to kick start the sales process at a meeting today by approving a recommendation to dispose of the site to a housing association on its Registered Provider Partnership Framework.

There are six RPs on the framework. They are Six Town Housing, Great Places Housing Group, Mosscare St Vincent’s, Onward Homes, Irwell Valley Homes, and Bolton at Home.

The site is situated close to existing social and affordable rented housing managed by Six Town Housing and Irwell Valley.

Work could begin on site next year subject to planning approval, according to a cabinet report.
