Awards: Indigo Planning, Golden Square, Co-operative Group
Manchester-based independent town planning consultancy Indigo Planning has been shortlisted for planning consultancy of the year in the Royal Town Planning Institute's Awards for Planning Excellence 2013. The winners will be announced on 10 July at a ceremony in London.
The Co-operative Group's new head office, One Angel Square, won three awards at the RICS North West Awards, including the overall title of project of the year. The £100m building, designed by 3D Reid and built by Bam Construction, also picked up the commercial property and design & innovation awards. Other winners included the Florence Institute in Liverpool for building conservation; Trinity Methodist Church, Ellesmere Port for community benefit; and Stockbridge Village Regeneration, Knowsley for regeneration.
Golden Square in Warrington won best use of digital marketing at the British Council of Shopping Centres' Purple Apple Awards. A 2011 customer survey revealed less 16-34 year olds were visiting Warrington's Golden Square shopping centre. In response, Golden Square worked with retailers on exclusive offers, creating e-newsletters, a new fashion website, a mobile site, social media engagement and interactive digital events, Golden Square now speaks online to 30,000 shoppers weekly. A 2012 shopper survey showed that 16-34 year olds account for 39.6% of all customers – an increase of 14.6% year on year.
Liverpool ONE was voted the Coach Friendly Shopping Destination of the Year at the annual Coach Tourism Awards, held at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral on 9 May.
