Ignite plans largest padel complex yet
A 34,000 sq ft indoor facility in Hunt’s Cross is the Liverpool-based operator’s latest scheme.
Ignite Padel has unveiled plans to install 11 courts imported from Spain within the former Plus Packaging warehouse off Gaskell Road, one of two padel complexes it plans to open before the end of the year.
Ignite currently has three operational venues, all of which opened last year. They are at Cheshire Oaks, on Queens Drive, and in Speke.
The Hunt’s Cross venue, which will have a bar, coffee shop, and retail store, is expected to open in July with a fifth as-yet-unnamed site due to launch before the end of the year.
Stephen Broad, partner at Ignite Padel said: “We have imported all the courts from Spain and they are championship standard quality and LTA approved, meaning they meet the standards set by the Lawn Tennis Association.”
Padel, a cross between tennis and squash, is understood to be the fastest growing sport in the UK and demand from players has sparked a deluge of planning applications to covert disused land and warehouses into courts across the country.
