Ashberry acquires land for 71-home Wigan scheme

The housebuilder has bought a former lorry depot in Tyldesley and aims to complete the housing development by 2024.

Ashberry Homes has acquired the four-acre Mosley Common Road plot for an undisclosed sum and has begun building the 71-home scheme.

Known as the Depot, the project will feature a mix of semi-detached, detached and mews properties. There will be 20 two-bedroom homes, 40 with three bedrooms and 11 four-bedroom properties. A total of 14 will be earmarked as affordable.

Wigan Council approved plans for the scheme last summer.

Hollie Reynolds, sales director at Ashberry Homes, said: “Demand for houses in this area of Greater Manchester is particularly high, with Worsley close by and both Manchester city centre and Wigan town centre just 30 minutes’ drive away.

“We anticipate a huge level of enquiries when we launch at the weekend and urge all interested homebuyers to get in touch.”

As part of the scheme, Ashberry will contribute almost £400,000 towards education, highways and public space in the area.

The Depot forms the second residential phase of a wider development proposed by Bellway called Elements. The first phase, which is under construction, comprises 154 homes.

Elements also features provision for 20,000 sq ft of retail space, a health and wellbeing centre and cafes and restaurants.
