Wrenman’s 130 Morecambe homes tipped to progress
Lancaster City Council’s planning committee is likely to follow a recommendation to allow the development of the agricultural plot in Torrisholme.
Wrenman Strategic Land had originally proposed 200 homes on the 25-acre site, but revised the figure down to 130, citing changes in national and local planning policy as the primary reason for resubmission.
Torrisholme is between Morecambe and Lancaster, less than three kilometres from both town centres.
A design and access statement prepared by Stantec indicates the houses will be predominantly two storeys, but a small percentage will rise to three, though a housing mix has yet to be finalised.
At least 12 acres of the site would be reserved for public open space, found predominantly in the south west corner of the development.
Slyne Road, where the site would be accessed from, would need to be widened as part of the plans to allow free movement of HGVs and other building materials.
