VIDEO | How Morgan Sindall is unlocking Birkenhead’s potential

Morgan Sindall Construction’s Barry Roberts took Place North West on a behind-the-scenes tour of the first phase of the town’s £1bn regeneration program.

The redevelopment of Birkenhead town centre is just one element of Wirral Council’s 20-year strategy to deliver 21,000 homes and 10m sq ft of commercial space across the peninsula.

Watch the video above, or on YouTube, to hear Roberts, the company’s managing director for the North, go into detail about the history of the area, why it is in need of regeneration and what the future holds.

Roberts was born a stone’s throw from where the contractor is building two offices totalling 150,000 sq ft for Wirral Council and Muse Developments.

He also talked to Place North West about how he got into construction and how the industry can be a driver for social change in areas like Birkenhead.

“At Morgan Sindall we are really passionate about making the biggest impact in communities as we can by opening people’s eyes to the opportunities we have in construction,” he said.

Birkenhead revisited, and no wonder, so much construction going on whether it`s offices, residential , or industrial, would like to see some residential near the Woodside ferry as it`s got great views across the river.

Great to see. Would like to see more videos about the whole Birkenhead Town Centre regeneration in general. Also what retail and leisure may look like when it is completed, something which the town centre barely had now for a town with one of the largest populations in the uk

May the drive and passion to regenerate continue
