Story lodges 219-home Brampton plan
The housebuilder has applied to Cumberland Council for permission to develop the 25-acre neighbourhood on a greenfield plot south of Carlisle Road.
Story Homes wants to build the 219 properties next to its completed 106-home Winchester Place development.
An application submitted to the local authority by Summit Town Planning indicates that 65 homes would be affordable, with 23 two- and nine three-beds to be managed by a registered social landlord.
The remaining 17 two- and 16 three-bedroom houses would be for discounted sale.
Of the 154 market-rate homes, 29 would be three-bed houses and 125 would have four beds.
Ashwood Design Associates has indicated in its design and access statement that the properties would rise two to 2.5 storeys.
The application proposes that 6.3 acres would be reserved for public open space and a play area, designed by Westwood Landscape Design.
An EIA for the site was undertaken in March this year.
Phil Fell, land manager at Story Homes, said: “Brampton has already shown how a Story Homes community can thrive through Winchester Place, and we’re excited to take the next step with these proposals.
“Our aim is to create not just new houses, but a neighbourhood that people will be proud to call home.”

He added: “If approved, this development would deliver 219 high-quality homes that respond to local need, as well as economic and social benefits for the area.
“We’re looking forward to engaging with the council and the local community as the plans are considered.”
